Fireflies in Utah

Fire-flies are VERY uncommon in the western united states so that means we normally don't have them in Utah, yet only a short time ago a Spanish Fork resident reported having seen strange lights in a field.
Those lights turned out to be fireflies or lightning bugs. because they are so uncommon in Utah it is a real treat for Anyone in Utah especially here in Spanish Fork. If you see any you can tell us where by commenting on this post.

For KSL's version click here or to watch a wild kratts video on fireflies click here. If you go to the wild kratts video the two videos are "Wild kratts glow" and "Fire Flyers"

  1. Fireflies are alive and well in Mitchell's Hollow in Highland Utah. Observed from June 14th to today, June 24th. We have generally observed them between 10 PM and 10:30 PM. I know fireflies well because I lived in Pennsylvania for a couple of years and have seen them in Nebraska and Illinois.
